About Me!
Welcome to the new 2020 – 2021 school year!
My name is Keith Stanger and I have been teaching for 6 years in the Prince William County School System. Five of those years I have been teaching here at Potomac Middle School. I have not always been a teacher though. I was a graphic designer for over 30 years. Over time, I needed to find other avenues to use my resources and energy. I have always had a love of history and as a young man I thought of becoming a teacher. I decided to make the change and went back to college to earn my degree and work to become a teacher.

I have a
BA degree in History from Ashford University in Iowa.  I then attended the Career Switcher program offered at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. My first teaching assignment came when I worked at the Pennington Traditional School in Manassas as the computer technology teacher. Pennington was a great school to teach at but my desire was to teach American History. I got my break here at Potomac in 2015 and have been here ever since. To be honest, there is no where else I would rather be.

I am a father of three, 1 daughter and 2 sons. In addition, I have 4 grand children. I love sports and a big fan of the teams from Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up in Western Pennsylvania one would think me a fan of the teams in Pittsburgh, but my love of the Indians and Browns was too strong. I love the game of baseball so much that every year I travel to different cities to watch a game. I have been to all stadiums except San Diego (Padres), Los Angeles (Angels, Dodgers), and Miami (Marlins). As a follower of history I came to fall in love with lighthouses. I enjoy them for their historical background and see them as pieces of art. As of now I have been to over 70 lighthouses in America, Bermuda, the Grand Turks, and Puerto Rico.

I look forward to the new year of being your teacher. I know this year brings different types of challenges because of the Covid-19 virus, but together we'll make it though the year.

Take Care,
Mr. Keith Stanger
