The Superintendent of Prince William County Schools, Steve Walts, has announced that our schools are closing for in classroom instruction and they are not sure how they want to continue online learning.  This is a challenging time for all of us, from VDOE, to the students, and everyone in between.  While decisions are being made I wanted to get the students to get into the online sites where they can practice and play games against each other to keep their mind on what they have already learned.  Please make sure that your students go to Microsoft Teams and sign into my online classes, Quizizz and Quizlet, so they can practice the sets.  I have left instructions for how to do that in Microsoft Teams.  They are only to use their last name, first and middle initial only because later this may be for grading and I need an easy way to identify them.

Hello All,I know that you are all waiting patiently for us teachers to put up assignments and information pertaining to the next few days, weeks and maybe even months.  The governor will be speaking at 2 pm and I will update this blog as soon as I know anything.

Hello Parents and Guardians, Per Division guidance we are not to assign any work to any student at this time.  However, I posted the project for this quarter and do not want to remove it because several kids have already been working on it. If I delete it, they may lose the work they have done so far.   At this time, the students are not required to complete any work.   Patience is needed for this questionable time.  That includes parents, students, and teachers to work together to make this time be the best it can.  I will not be posting or even looking at their work until we are notified otherwise.  Health is more important at this time as we support our Panther students and families.  The schools are supporting mental health at this time so please check your emails or the schools website in the event that it is needed.  The county is also offering food to families in need.  Please check the school website for all that information.   Thank you all for your patience as we teachers are trying to figure things out just as much as the students and families.

Hello all Parents, Guardians, and Students,  I have posted a new assignment that is a project grade.  It is not due until next Wednesday because we were told not to give work for the first week the students were out.  However, we have a project due next week that is important for the grading.  All students will need to to complete it by the due date so I can get them all graded in time for the grades to be issued.   There have been no changes in the grading period so I am just trying to stay up on it in case the grades are still due on March 30, 2020.   I just want to remind everyone to be patient with one another.  This is a new method for students who are used to be able to ask questions and get clarifications in person.  It is also a new method for teachers who are used to having the students in front of them and giving verbal directions.  It is not going to help with us being isolated in our homes for so long.  Due dates will not change until I hear otherwise from the county.

Parents and Guardians: Comcast is offering free internet for low income families.  Please help me get this information out so that we can help provide more students with access to virtual learning.  It is important that we make this accessible to everyone regardless of circumstances.

Parents and Guardian, I copied the information that was sent out by PWCS on how to change their passwords.  I want to thank everyone for their patience as we all explore this new method of teaching.   Staff and students can now reset their passwordsfrom outside the network by clicking on Password Self-Service from the Information Technology Department PWCS webpage. This self-service feature is only available to staff members who have previously entered their mobile phone number in the Contact Information Section of Employee Self-Service (ESS) and/or a personal email address in the Profile section of Toolbox. Students will be prompted for their username, student number/ID and date of birth to reset their passwords.

Dear Parents and Guardians,  On Saturday March, 14, 2020 I sent out an email to inform everyone of the way I would be working with your students over the next few weeks.  By using Teams I am able to work with your students one on one at a predetermined time if they do not understand what to do.  I will be able to get to their work at all times.  That means I can give credit for what is done in case the student forgot to email it or send it to me. For that reason email is not a very feasible way to send it because I have over 100 students and even more teachers, administration and the home office that it would easily become lost.  All my students have been taught how to access Teams and have worked in the program many times.  They are aware of their usernames and passwords.  If they accidentally enter their password incorrectly 3 times, they will need to go to the school website and change their passwords.   Through this blog I will be informing parents and guardians of tests that I would like them to supervise in order to prevent them from looking up the answers on their phones or other web pages.  However, most tests will be open book.  This would only apply to Unit tests.
