When is the first day of school? The first day of school, as directed by PWCS, will be Tuesday, September 8, 2020. 

Will the school year be virtual, in-person, or a combination of both? For the 1st Quarter, PWCS will operate a 100% virtual school year with the goal of returning to a 50% in-person hybrid model beginning in the 2nd quarter. Please check PWCS' website for further details on the re-opening plan. 

What will the schedule look like for Potomac Middle School during virtual learning? The released "bell" schedule can be found on Potomac Middle School's homepage or you can click here.

What platform will PTMS be using for the virtual learning? PTMS will be using Zoom for live lessons. PWCS purchased a secure license for Zoom. We will also be utilizing the Canvas Platform to integrate and and assist with virtual learning. 

When will my student receive their schedule for the 2020-2021 school year? Schedules will be released in StudentVUE on September 4, 2020. 

How will my student know which Zoom session to sign into for each class? Students will follow their schedule that will be assigned on September 4, 2020. They should work with their teachers as well as within the Canvas platform to sign into the appropriate Zoom class at the correct time. For example, if a student has 3rd period Language Arts, they would sign into their Language Arts class every time 3rd period class time is on the schedule. 

Should I buy school supplies for my student? School supplies will assist in a positive way, especially during virtual learning. Your child's specific teacher can assist with what supplies would be needed. To see an overview of general supplies, you can click here.

Can I borrow a laptop device from PTMS to assist with distance learning? Students who need a laptop should email Ms. Boggan at: BogganKL@pwcs.edu to be added to the wait list for a school issued computer. Students who were in 6th or 7th grade LAST year and borrowed one during the spring virtual learning session should still have their computers. There will be a limited supply of computers.

When do I have to apply for the free & reduced breakfast/lunch program? Parents & guardians must apply by October 15, 2020 and can apply by clicking here.

What will be the food distribution times once school starts? 
Beginning September 8, 2020, the food distribution program will be MONDAY’S and THURSDAY’S from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. (Due to the first day of school being on a Tuesday, food will be given out on Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10 for the first week, then continue on Monday’s and Thursday’s)

How much food will be distributed? For free & reduced students, student will receive breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. For non-free and reduced students, they will receive a dinner and a snack. On Monday’s, students will receive enough for 3 days’ worth (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). On Thursday’s, students will receive enough food for 4 days’ worth (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Will I need to bring proof or verification of my student? 
Yes, student ID numbers will need to be brought with you in order to verify which program they qualify for. This is also to ensure each student gets the right amount of food distributed.
