RUBRIC Weekly Rehearsal Grade (WRG)

Always on time, attentive and on-task during class.

 

Is always in the singing position requested by the director (Position 1, 2, or 3).

 

Is also using proper vocal technique and is following the director’s dynamics (volume).

Continually attempts to master the material and concepts presented in class. Mistakes are fine, not trying to improve isn’t fine.

 

Participates to the best of his/her ability and puts forth continuous effort.

Usually on time, attentive and on-task during class.

UNIFORMS A music ensemble works very much like any sports team. The performance is the game and in the game everybody on the team wears the same uniform. It is the responsibility of the student to have a clean, neat uniform for all performances.   6th & 7th Grade Choirs:  1. Solid White Shirt (either long or short sleeves are fine) 2. Long Black pants OR Long Black skirt 3. Black shoes

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS Respect yourself, everyone else, and all property. Always work hard and always do your best. NO GUM—for safety reasons while singing Please ask questions if you don’t understand. To ask a question: Raise your hand to be recognized. Misbehavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Be prepared for class. Remain quiet and attentive during class. Follow instructions Keep your eyes on the director at all times.

            The PWCS grading scale and policies will be used to calculate a student’s grade.  Students will receive grades in the following manner: Singing tests Assess the student’s playing skills and improvement: Winter and Spring Concert are counted as exams In-class Group Singing Tests—Students NEVER have to sing alone for a grade. Weekly Rehearsal Grade       Assess the student’s mastery of the musical standards studied during   each week Assess the student’s ability to follow expectations, classroom procedures, and participation Singing Quizzes Assess the student’s musical knowledge and attention in class
